This weekend , i noticed the barrel on the 1858 remmie ..Pietta  was working loose .. never had that happen before , i unscrewed it a little more when i got home and added some lock tight to the threads then tightened it back up to where it lined up like its suppose to be ... i`m not sure if locktight was the sure fix for it or not ..it was all i had on hand .. anyone else had this happen ..and is there a better fix ?

Never had it happen. I was told by Tom Ball, a very respected gunsmith active with the N/SSA that the Uberti Remingtons could not be alligned for POA by twisting the barrels because they were both threaded and epoxied. The Piettas ere not epoxied and could be twisted either direction to correct windage. However Ubertis had a driftable front sight for windage adjustments. On your gun: make darned sure it is shooting right on windage wise before epoxying it. Get it sighted in perfectly then remove the cylinder pin and scratch a fine allignment mark across the frame/barrel junction so you can perfectly REallign the barrel & frame before the glue sets.

I heard the Uberti`s were glued in or epoxied , i`ve had the barrel off of one of my Piettas before to shorten it and add a dovetailed in front sight on it so i knew Pietta didn`t use any kind of glue on them .. i`m just hopeing the red lock tight will be enought to stop the movement on this one .. i wasn`t sure what kinda epoxie to use .. this Pietta i haven`t really had long , it was a cabelas display gun when i bought it off the net .. the nipples were smashed flat from too much dry fireing to the point of messing up the hammer face pretty bad ... and now the barrel backing out problem ... i may need to make lemonaid .
odd though its the first one out of the 4 Piettas i have that shot perfect point of aim right out of the box .. so i was starting to get attached to it .
