Grips for a USFA

Howdy fellow USFA enthusiasts
I have a question on replacement grips for a USFA SAA and what better place to ask then right here on are very own forum.
Has anyone replaced their hard rubber grips with wooden grips and if so what brand and how did they fit? I shoot duelist and prefer the wooden grips so that the pistol rolls in my hand under recoil. Any help will be much aappreciated. Thanks.

I have been giving some serious consideration about changing the grips on my blue SAA to either a one piece ivory from TruIvory, or a one piece Buckeye Burl from Outlaw Grips in Tuscon, AZ. Either way will be a little costly. USFA can also change grips out for you, and they have a pretty good selection.

 Chipola Kid, did you get those grips. I am interested also in changing grips but I am not to excited about haveing to fit them after I get them. If you put grips on yours did you have to fit them or did they fit?

I just replaced the USFA "faux" gutta-percha grips with nutmeg sports scrimed ivory.  It took about 6 weeks and I sent the gun to them for proper fitting as they are now one peice grips.  The scrim work took 4 of the 6 weeks.  I am quite pleased with the results.

Which USFA "faux" gutta-percha grips did you have , the ones with just the US or the ones with the US and eagles?
Looking for a set of the "eagles".

i'm having usfa put grips on two gunslingers. I bought the grips from eagle grips and sent them to usfa.they are american elk horn check them out

I wish USFA used the "US" rubber grips that has an eagle at the bottom of it, or atleast offer it as an option.

I drove down to Eagle grips today and waited while they fitted checkered rosewood "gunfighter" grips to my Rodeos.

They look great and I believe I will shoot better with them.

 Any one else find grips? If I don't get some grips I might just have to break down and get some Rugers. I shot a pair this weekend and it sure made a difference. I am haveing a heck of a time keeping my sights on target. These factory grips are just to small for my hands.

I have had very good luck with Paul Persinger Grips.  Paul is located in El Paso and his phone number is 915-821-7541.
One of the advantages when dealing with Paul is that he only needs the backstrap and trigger guard to fit the grips.  No need to send the whole gun.  His prices are good and his turn-around time is about two week (or has been with me in the past).  He does grips in Ivory, walnut, ebony, rosewood, etc..  I have a couple sets of one-piece ivory grips that he is done for me and they are perfect.
I am sure that if you were to give him a call he would be able to accommodate any special needs that you might have.

 Sounds expensive! I just got an email back from USFA and I can buy a new Ruger for what it will cost to get grips from them. I just want a pair of functional wood checkered grips. I am having a heck of a time keeping on target.
