 :)Howdy Everyone :) :)
Here we go again!
I would like to know if you may be interested in a weekend get toghter for CAS Leather workers.
The only way this can be put toghter is you pards saying if you would if things work out! I know money is tight. So my goal is to find out where everyone lives  (not your town) just what part of what state you live in.
Then I need input on what time of the year would work for you, if there are a couple differnt times please state them! I think that this would be fun and educational for some of us, plus most of us will get to see each other eye to eye! We could discuss many things, one would be finding a small tannery that veg tan and would give us a group price! I know there is a lot of work involved in tanning, but buyers are only paying $40.00 for a full hide.
I do think that we need a committe to organize this, i want no one in this world to think I am doing this to make a buck! You are given so much time on this earth and each and everyday is a blessing!!
If you answer this post:
Please state what part of what state you live in.
What time of the year would work the best? and if you have more than one stated it!

By answering this you are in no way obligated to attend, but please only answer if you are 75-80% sure that you would attend if it meets your time schedule!

If you would like to be on the committe, please pm me.
If enough people attend, we might get Tandy or Hidecrafters or one of the other suppliers of leather goods to come or to donate door prizes or what ever! If you don't ask, you don't get!!!!

Howdy Ace
It sounds like a lot of fun.
For me it all depends on how busy my business is at the time.
Just to let you know, to the best of my knowledge there is only 2 tanneries left in the USA that tan veg.

Ace,

I think this a good idea and I wouldn't mind ya making a bunch a bucks on the deal. That's how promoters get paid if an event is successful. I would recommend Kansas City. It is central and is a rail head and also an old cattle town. Another idea is to have it at Old Cowtown in Wichita, Kansas. It is a museum and it has all kinds of buildings, hotel, saloon, blacksmith shop and livery, etc...  It is an old cowtown. Anyway, those are a couple a thoughts.

I have to chime in with WC. My schedule will depict whether I go anywhere. It does sound like a fine idea, though. It would be nice to meet some of the others here.

Ace has asked that I sticky this for a while to make it easy to find. It's done.

I am in central Nebraska, but hail from North Central Kansas. Anywhere from Ne to Ks would work for me, within reason. Spring would be best probably or late fall, but again schedules dictate my availablility. Weather also dictates, as I am a city government employee, and end up pushin snow and the like.
Another good central spot would be Hays, KS, or Kearney, NE or Grand Island, NE. Grand Island has 2 cowboy clubs as an added benefit.

:) As I stated before, I would love to attend!  I have family in Kansas City so that would work well for me.  I live in the eastern part of NC near Raleigh.  The time of year is not a factor for me if I know a few weeks in advance.  I have emphysema and am on 24 hr oxygen and so am on disability and pretty much free to attend anytime.  I'd like to make it a family affair so the advance notice would be for my wifes' work.  She can take the time if she knows a coupla weeks ahead.

Howdy Pards :)
Lets jump in here give me some area's where you all live, I know as much as we share our info, and show what we have made, that this would be a great thing!
The possibilities are inless! How many times do you get to meet people that have the same passion for the same thing.
There is not one person on here that doesn't want to get better, and have nicer stuff to show off!! I have several books on holster making and leather workng, but TW and I talk atleast 1 time a week if not 2 times on the phone! I have learned more buying talking to him, then all the books I have read!
Nothing better than hands on eye to eye discussions :o
If you  even have one little thought that you might want to attend, post your area and what times of the year would work the best!

Thanks for reading!

Pards:
FWIW, the NCOWS Annual Convention will be in Kansas City in March 2009.

1) Might be good to tie this gathering in with another Old West event already scheduled.
2) Give everyone something else to go to while they're there.
3) Vendor spaces are available and relatively inexpensive for any who might be interested.
4) KC is nicer in March than Jan/Feb.
5) NCOWS membership not required to attend.

Just something to ponder.......

Dr. Bob

Howdy Ace,

I live in KC and help coordinate the NCOWS Convention.  I imagine [read that this is not a promise] that we could provide a meeting room for the Leather Shop to congregate in and have a bit of semi-privacy.  We have a convention rate on rooms and a great banquet on Sat. night.  Szabo, a nationally known tintype artist will be available to capture your image!  Good shopping opportunities.  You all would be welcome.  The dates are March 20 - 22.  If there is interest, I will talk to the committee and help facilitate the meeting!  If y'all don't want to use the convention, that is OK too.
BTW it is located at the Reardon Convention Center in Kansas City, KS and the adjoining Hilton Garden Inn.

I think KC is a good idea and at the NCOWS convention to boot. KC is right smack dab in the middle of the US.  ;)

 :)DR. Bob,
I would be great full if you could find out any and all details that you mentioned! find out the rooms rates, if we can get a meeting room and it's cost, find out what the cost of the banquet! Since they have a new Manager at the KC Tandy store, maybe we could get Tandy to come and offer some discount merchandice or donate door prizes!
I think once we have something rolling we will see if we have some people willing to go1 We know there are 10 people, i was hopeing for 50 ??? ::)
I don't think it is fair to those that live on the west coast, but I have been trying my best to get people to tell me where a central location would be ::) I would like to see as many of you Pards, because I think that you guys are the BEST of he BEST that there is in the World!!
We live in a cut throat world >:( not like the one I was raised in! I do my best to be as good as person as I can be! I feel it doesn't matter if you are a millionare or a person that rides on the back of a trash truck!!!! It is what is in your heart that count's :)
I am sure that those that live on the wes coast will not be able to attend do to the cost of the flying!
Right know you can fly to KC for $209.00 if bought 30 days in advance, but that changes all the time, and that isn;e a non stop flight !

Bob, we won't set this in stone yet, the sooner the you can get me numbers, we will run it by the group and see if anyone else has any other suggestions.

Thank you so much for jumping in with Irsh Dave, and help me get this ball a rolling!!

One thing I as, is that NO ONE GET UPSET with this purposal, it isn't set in stone, and OPEN TO ANYONE ELSE's Thoughts.
