Hey is anyone getting any shooting time in for practice, I finaly got out last Week-end and it felt great to breath some  spent cordite.

I believe when the croakases come out shooting should begin.

The darn cabin fever was relieved once the bang and clang started.

It sure is funny how it feels warm this time of year when it is above 40 degrees.  We go out shoot a few rounds with out gloves and a coat on and feel great to be alive, but when we go out to shoot in April if it aint 65 degrees we pack up early and skidadle.

I always like it when I can shove the steel post in the ground with out encountering frost at 8 inches.

Any how, I hope everyone gets a chance to fire off a few rounds.

I just pickup a shooting timmer and hope to get out and do some practicing before the first possie meet.

Man it has been a tough wait, I hope everyone has a great season and I hope to see most everyone on the range.

I'm gettin' eager to get the show on the road myself. Our last couple of scheduled shoots have been rained or snowed out.

Trigger finger's gettin' itchy. ;)

Other than that wicked December, I've been out shooting most of the winter.  Range is only 15 minutes away and we had a lot of 50 degree temps in Feb.  Got to wring out a "new to me" Puma '92 in 44-40, a couple of new mil surps, tested a new front sight I made for a '51 Navy and put a lot of 44 mag thru my Raging Bull.  I don't work outside the home, so I can pretty much run up there any time I want.  What a country!!!

Hey 44 Cal, what a Great Time of year to be getting ready for the season and All.  I picked up that new 66 winnie, Carbine I had been lusting for for about a year or more.  I feel like I got a pretty Good Deal on It at the Convention this past winter.  It is a 38 special, cause that is the cal. that I can load with my stuff, and I kind of like being able to pick up factory loads on the cheep.

I used to have a Raging Bull in 454 Cascul.  It was the Polished Stainless and man that thing would buck.  I liked it right up until a fell in lust with the 97' winnine pump, e serries shot gun with about 80% blueing, and a takedown moddle to boot, so long Tarus, hello winnie.  Don't know if I got the better end of the deal but I sure like shooting that shot gun.

I did a little smithing myself this winter.  I put a new plow handle grip on the AWA nickel-plated 357 colt clone.  I pickup the Gun up at a gun show about a year ago, it had a birdshead (Pinkerton Grip on it, made a pretty ugly gun if you ask me) but for the price I thought what the Heck, I can starp on a new grip frame and grips for less than $100 bucks.  Kind of like the way it looks now and it shoots pretty good now that I filed the front sight down.

I tried filing the hammer spring down, so that the cocking was lighter but I guess I don't have enough filed off yet.  I made about a1/16th hour glass shape indent on both sides of the spring about 1/3 of the way down from there it touches the hammer but I might have to take a little more off since I can not tell much of a difference, I know this is not the place to discuss smithing, So if you like let me know what you think on a PM or on the Smithing Forum, or I will just ask next shoot.

Your must be pretty far west and or south of Me here in Cedar Rapids cause the weekends have not been very warm except for the 2nd W.E. in Feb which was around 65 degrees here.  It was a great Saturday weather wise but my wife's family came in town for the WE and wanted to do the Amana Colonies.  I kind of like sleeping in the big house so I though I better ablidge her and her Sister our suffer the consequences.  They are great people, and It is about people and not playingy with our toys, anway thats what I kept telling myself in order not to pout too much after looking forward to getting out the first change I could  (Family sort of showed up at the last moment you know.)

Nice chatting with You, Have Fun and I think it is awesome your JOB allows you to work out of the House, I will be working 4-10 hour days this summer, and Hope to help build a new addition to a Prayer Center during my extra time off.  I might get a chance to shoot on one or two of the Fridays I am off also.  Wow, what a great life, God is Good.

Triggerlock

Howdy Gauge Rod :)

Well, it ain't NCOWS,  but next Saturday (April 1), the Turkeyfoot Cowboys will be having their second shoot of the season.  It's less than an hour from Cedar Rapids to their range.

Your pard,  Triggerlock

Cuts Crooked

Well, like Triggerlock it ain't NCOWS, but I went to a match yesterday at Ankeny. Didn't shoot, just ran the loading tables fer a while and visited with old pards. It was nice just to be able to get out there. :)

My shooting this past winter was pretty much restricted to big bore testing and, more recently, working up some black powder scattergun turkey loads fer hunting this spring.

Hope to make to a shoot this weekend at Glenwood weather permitting. It's not an NCOWS shoot if thats important to you but to me it's hopefully the first shoot of the year & my trigger finger is starting to itch. WBR

Hey Irish, shooting is shooting, Triger Lock, and Cuts,  I have a bit of a full schedule this week-end or I would try and Make it to Turky Foot.  I Did get out again this weekend with my lovely Bride to shot up some steel targets.  She can shoot darn near better than I can, she just needs to work up a little speed.  She realy likes to shoot them warthog loads out of them RV 44 mags, 7.5 inch barrels.  We picked up an LC Smith double, 20 gage, for her this winter that has nice case hardened receiver, double triggers, with extractor.  We decided it needs a recoil pad for her.  Once she figured out the POA on the thing she was nailing the steel plates.

I guess she will probable be putting me to shame with the scores she will make at the shoots this year.  I am really blessed to have such a great pardner.

Hope to see all of you at one of the ranges this year.  With my busy schedule between church and family commitments, I pretty much limit myself to one or two shoots per month.
