Hi, new here, my 56 50 is coming, my question is about dies, are they special for the taylors? or will any 56 50 work? Brass is it special for the Taylor. Starline was what I was thinking. What else should I know.  New to the Spencer!  any help would be appreciated. Hate the steep learning curve, I have lots of extra things from the learning. Thanks Loco

Hi Loco,

I have a link appearing below to a post I started awhile back that may be of some help, until other members of SSS respond to your questions.  Are you joining our Spencer Shooting Society?  Please register, or Email me at fsgrand2@fairpoint.net, and let me know if you are joining up with us.

Thanks,

You going for Black Powder or Smokeless loads?

If you are going to use one or any of the BP Substitutes I will sugest that you open up the primer flash hole with a 3/32nds drill bit and use Large Magnum Rifle Primers.  This will get you instant ignition and a cleaner burn for your bang.  Another thing, you may want to invest in a .50 caliber wad punch and use a wad cut from Soda can cartons.  The coating is moisture resistant and will provide a barrier to any BP Lube that tries to migrate from the bullet down to the powder.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.
