To take one apare, one needs to fabricate a spanner to fit the bolt holding the hammer screw in place. Avery good book on this subject is "Percussion Pistols andRevolvers History, Performance, and Practical use" by Johnny Bates and Mike Cumpston. I found the book on Amazon.com, well worth the $$ about $20.00
