Howdy all,

I bought a pair of shooting glasses with an anti-fog coating.  It worked great for a while, but wiping and cleaning seems to have removed the properties.

Any suggestions for a coating?  Rain-X or something like that?
Gracias,

Four-Eyed Buck

Hext, Probably Rain-X would be your best bet. I misunderstood and was going to say that the anti-reflective stuff is the pits. My regulars have it and between what was floating around at work and the stuff I made at home, ammo, polishing compound, etc., they scratched something fierce. Checked on getting the coating removed as it was the coating that was scratched, not the lense. No can do, the lenses would cloud up. In the future I will avoid the anti-glare/anti-reflective coatings.................Buck 8) :o >:(
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Yeah.. Rain-X seems to work well on the car, so I thought it would be the next step, but.. the glasses are plastic, not glass.  Hate to have them cloud up.  Thanks for the reply.

Adios,

To throw something out, even though it doesn't address the specific question:

Learned something when I used to ski/snowboard.  Often glasses fogging is a result of too much contained body heat.  Shed an article or two of clothing, or unbutton your shirt some.  That might prevent the fogging in the first place.  When mine fog up, I usually can just remove my wild rag.

Yeah Doc, yer right.  If I lift my hat, the fog clears right up, but ya can't do that when your shooting.  And I tend to get hot during the stage, not when I can do something about it.  So looking for a little help.

I learned the same when I was a wild man ski-devil.  I have a one piece over-suit for skiing.. We'd fly down the mountain, cooking and smoking and then I'd unzip the top, only a T-shirt underneath and steam like an old train.  Cool off in line, then zip up for the lift up and down again.

Gracias,

Doc Shapiro

Well, the only other thing I'd suggest is a different pair of shootin glasses.  Hope you find an anti-fog coating that does the trick!

Hext,

I clean my plastic lens prescription eye glasses, safety rated, that I shoot with prior to each match with pre-moistened lens cleaning cloths that you can find at any optical center.

Cleaning a plastic lens with paper will remove any anti fog or tinting eventually.

I get mine at Sam's Club but Wal-Mart and any optical center will have them.

It gets rid of the static electricity too.

BAR SOAP . Just plain old bar soap moistened, wipe some on your fingers and swirl it around on both sides of the lens and let it dry. Then wipe/polish it till clear and your done. They will not steam up. This works on bathroom mirrors also.
