The Galaxy Magazine of the 19th century had a fella by the name of George Custer writin' fer them from time to time. Most have seen a copy of "My Life on the Plains" made up from a series of articles he wrote for the Magazine. Here is a link for those and the rest he wrote for The Galaxy.

That link don't seem to work well, I've had troubles with links on American Memory site.  Try this and type George Custer on the search.
