I'm going to make the purchase of a pair of 1858 New Model Army Remingtons.  I've got a line a good
price for the EMF and the Uberti.  I'm partial to the Uberti, but I was wondering, who makes the EMF
model - Armi San Marco, Pietta, Uberti?  Anyone out there know the answer?  I know that in the past,
Pietta and Arm San Marco had some quality control problems, but they've pretty much cleared that up
by now (so I understand).  I'm really hoping I can get my hands on a consecutively numbered pair.

I don't know who produces the '58 Rem. for EMF, I think Pietta does.
You might want to check out Euroarms, their '58 Rem.s are closer to the original heft and balance being smaller yet that the Uberti. Uberti is a smaller frame than Pietta. I think now that Armi San Paolo/Euroarms and Pietta have solved their quality issues. and Uberti is getting a run for their money now.

Just thought I'd give you a third option. ASp/Euroarms '58 Rem also accepts the R&D and Kirst Uberti Conversion cylinders. I have small hands and I love the heft and balance of the ASP/Euroarms '58 Rem. If the one I just bought feels as good as a friends older one, then I'm going that route with at least another, maybe two.....LOL

I probally shouldn`t say anything untill i get a chance to shoot it / but i bought a new in box AMS off the net .. the box says armi san marco on the top ... on the side of the box it says EMF .. the recipt i found in the box says it was bought in dec. 1999 . all the spec. on remmie seem to be just like a Uberti  .. smaller grips , dovetailed in front sight and loading lever post . It slicked up easy , and feels really nice to the hand , i don`t shoot for time i shoot alot from the bench .. the weather is suppose to be great today here .. so to the range i`ll go , then i`ll know more about the way it shoots . I did find a place that still sells the AMS remmies new in the box for 179.00 if its a shooter i`m gonna order another .

Here`s what happened at the range today .... with the ASM/EMF 44 Remmie  loaded 35 grs  3F APP powder  .454 ball #10 remington caps .. each cylinder hole shaved a nice ring off each ball . At 15 yards from a bench rest ..winds were 10 to 15 mph . first five shots 1 in the (9 ring) 3 in the (8 ring) and 1 in the (7 ring) all shots stayed on the same elevation just left of the bulls eye ..put a tape on `em 2 inch dia. circle . I haven`t touched the sights , this is new out of the box aiming dead center at the bullseye . my piettas didn`t shoot this well out of the box ( they do now ) i don`t have a Uberti to compaire too , so i don`t know . I did like the smaller grips on this ASM , i`ve got big hands , but this one is easyer to hold tight .

Well, I went and ordered a pair of 1858 New Model Armys today.  Ended up ordering them from
Taylor & Co's.  I settled on the Uberti's.  I went with Taylor's because they had a pair in stock,
seems like everyone else I spoke to only had one on the shelf (hmmm, maybe people ARE trading
in a handful of Colts for a Remington  ;D).  They ended up being higher on the price scale than I
would have really liked, but my motto is "You get what you pay for".  I had spoke with a
gentleman from one of the sutler stores, and he kind of leaned me towards the Uberti's.  He
called them "Cadillacs" to be exact.  Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against EMF, Armi Sport,
Armi San Paulo, Pietta, etc.... but without actually getting my hands on one to check them out,
I felt good about going with Uberti sight unseen.  Plus, Taylors & Co might be able to get me a
consecutively numbered pair  :D

Now, if only I could convince my wife to get me that Uberti 1860 Henry in 44/40.....................

Well, they finally arrived today.  A very nice pair of Uberti 1858 Remingtons.  They weren't consecutively
serial numbered like I really had hoped for, but don't get me wrong - I'm really stoked!!  The fit and finish
on these are fantastic.  They really are a pair of Cadillacs.  For once, I'm actually looking forward to cleaning
a pistol  :D

Now I really have to start working on my wife to get me that Uberti 1860 Henry......................
