Fellow Military Buffs.  I am in need of a reproduction M1881 Helmet Eagle either for Staff, with no crossed cannon, rifles, sabres etc, or one with crossed cannons under the Sheild.

I have found plenty of originals and branch specific to Infantry and Cavalry but no Staff or Artillery.

Any leads will be appreciated.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Try  www.ssfirearms.com   if it's not in their catalog, give them a call, often they may have such things in shop even if not listed.   www.cooncreekoldwest.com  as well.  You will have to call the folks at Coon Creek, often if they don't have it, he knows where to find it.

In fact, the artillery helmet plate is listed in the S&S catalog on page 95, Item # IW45,  $50.  I ordered on of these from them last year, was on my Helmet at the SASS convention.  This is the M1881 style.  On page 93 is the M1872 Eagle plate, #IW6, which has no branch designation.

The S&S catalog is a great reference book to have around.

I've got one - but it's an original - still attached to the Model 1881 spike helmet.

http://www.americanband.com/

The above link gives a Band Supply store that has the correct 1881 Eagle Plate.  They come in Gold and Silver and are not embossed for Branch of Service, ie: Artillery, Cavalry, or Infantry.  Click on Shako under Headgear to see pictures.

It's going to cost me about $12.00 for two in gold and this includes shipping.

When I get them I'll let you know how they look.

:(  Got the Eagle Plates in.  They are made of Plastic and are Infantry helmet plates.  Guess I'll find a use for them somehow.
