Adirondack Jack

I just got word from Happy Trails that we'll have "Cowboy Carriers" for ..44 Russian and Cowboy .45 Special in 66 and 73 rifles very soon (if the creek don't rise...)

The production prototypes are on the way to me so I can wring em out/show em off.  A first production run will follow shortly.  Our best guess is about a month to get the first batch ready to ship.  The precision machine work ended up costing a little more than we'd like it to be, but we think you'll really enjoy the results.  See cowboy45special.com for all the nitty gritty.

A question:
Are you using only factory original carriers or someones lightweight aluminum carrier?

Using brass "stock type" carriers as blanks.  Though I never gave aluminum much thought, brass will be longer wearing than aluminum in the "stressed" areas where the pins rest.

Yeah buddy.  I think tomorrow I will load up a mixed handful of 250s, 200s, 150 EPP-UGs, 160 Lees, and 120 HB Barnstormers, varying in OAL from 1.225 to 1.080,  all at once and let em rip, Pop, boom, bang, pop, boom, bang.  Ought to be a good demonstration :)

Jack  That is the way to show the versitility of the design. That is why I loaded op those dummys with El Cototes, 185 gr. ,H&G #. 130,because that is a tuff one.It didnt even slow it down,I think the Cowboy Carrier will even feed a full wadcutter. The design You and Hap came up is beautifly simple, and very effencient, that KISS principal.            Adios  Sgt. Jake

Glad I got my pre-production order in for a 66 carrier!   ;D This is gonna be great!  Think I will start trimming down some of my .44 spl. brass, although I have about 600 Russian cases.

Dusty    You are gonna flat LOVE the Cowboy carrier/elevator in your toggle link rifle. It feed the Cowboy 45 Specials like popcorn thru a goose. Some of the dummys were left over colts ,cut down from about 15 to 20 years back when I played with them, all be it in pistols. Then Jack steped up to the plate and had the correct brass made, now hes done the same for all of us toggle link shooters.   Adios  Sgt. Jake

Well, the carrier didn't disappoint.  I didn't shoot the two"practice" stages offered at our "Cabin Fever Swap Shop, Potluck and Shoot" this morning (that's all they set up as the range is still snowed in)  because frankly it was too darn cold, but I did load up the '73 with a mixed load of 120 HB bullets and 160 Lees, not in any order, and cranked them out at speed.  The targets "dinged" obediently, even with the lightly loaded 120s at under 800 fps, and the gun ran slick with nary an issue.

Lotta "well I be" reaction from folks. :)
