I just purchased 2 stainless steel Ruger New Vaquero and notice a line around the cylinder after firing them for the first time. Does any one know if this is normal?

It's a Ruger design feature.  They let the bolt ride on the cylinder, unlike the Colt design which retracks the bolt until near lockup time.  That's why I bought stainless, because it less noticable than the blued model.

The Ruger design engineers put the line there to let you know the gun was working properly.  Without it, you would always worry.
