Uberti Vs. Cimmeron

I believe I read somewhere that Uberti makes the firearms for Cimmeron. Aren't you just paying an extra "middleman" for the same gun or is there a difference between them other than price?

From what I've  read Uberti makes most of the "Colt" parts used in clones today anyway, (even USFA). What these many companies do with the stock parts may vary, as to finish, etc. So there is no real "middleman" cost to you. These companies may use different grips and the parts may be honed and be better shooters out of the box; but all in all you can't go wrong with the Uberti Cattleman.

Cimmaron is a distributor for Uberti as is EMF.  I don't believe that you can buy straight from Uberti.  Especially with them being located in Italy.  You would need a permit to import.

As Camille says, Uberti is a manufacturer, located in Italy. Cimarron, Navy Arms, Taylors, and a few others are importers, importing and distributing what Uberti makes. Some claim to have superior fit and finish than others. Interior fit and finish, and exterior fit and finish are two very different things. Just about all of the imports have fabulous fit and finish on the outside. That's the easy part, and is largely cosmetic. As for the inside, the mechanism, and how well they have been fitted, and smoothed, that is the time consuming part. All of the Uberti guns that I've been inside of, no matter who imports them, have all been pretty much the same inside, despite what the importers may claim. They could all benefit from some after market smoothing.

Some importers may offer configurations; barrel lengths, calibers, etc., not available from other importers, but under the skin, they are all the same.

USFA does not use Uberti parts, they did at one time, but today they make all their own parts.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

I have founf the US Finish Cimarron guns to have a better action out of the box than the standard models.  One thing Cimarron does that the other importers don't is they have done away with the hammer mounted safety which makes them more authentic.

I just bought a new gun yesterday that said Uberti on the tag but the box said Cimmeron. It has Cimmeron and Uberti stamped in the top of the barrel but now that you mention it, the Uberti I picked up a couple weeks ago has the trigger saftey, (I guess that's what that little dohicky is under the trigger) and the Cimmeron doesn't. Other than that, they look identical. Very nice guns I might add. Now if I could just shoot straight with either one.... ;D
