I went to Office Depot to buy a new mouse.  The box wasn't clear if there was an adaptor included.  Very nice young lady clerk volunteerred to open the box and see.  She couldn't break the tape that held it.  I took out my pocket knife, opened it, and offered it to her.  She said, "Sir, you'll have to cut it yourself.  We aren't allowed to have knives unless the store provides them and we need them to do the job.  Then we have to turn them in as soon as we're done."

Paranoia is running rampant throughout the land.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

I guess their afraid a terrorist clerk will hijack the store and turn it into an Office Max.

All the clerk would of had to say is "Our Insurance" won't let us handle such a device and you all would of just when "Ok" accepted it as normal and wouldn't of gave it a second thought.

Wow, I carry 3 knives at work, my Swiss Army Knife in my left front pocket, my Buck Trapper in the right one and a 6 inch sheath knife on my gun belt. ;D

We weren't supposed to any knife but the " company approved" ones when I was still working. Seems too many people were getting cuts and the insurance company didn't like it. The " approved knives" didn't work worth a crap for the jobs we had for them. Myself, I didn't carry a knife. I carried a "Multitool" on my belt. Honest, it isn't a knife, Boss!!!! :o :o ::) ;D
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Whatever you do Forty Rod, don't run with that knife in your hand. You could hurt yourself. Out there in California it's a wonder they didn't arrest you as soon as you took that deadly concealed weapon out of your pocket.

It seems odd since the store probably sells both scissors and letter openers - both could have been used without resorting to the evil pocket knife!  ;D

Typical Dilbert management  response  to a problem that doesn't exist, make a feel good law or rule and it will go away.  We just had 5 teens (14 & 13)  out joyriding at 3AM in a Ford Ranger truck that was taken without parents consent.  They crashed, two killed by trauma & fire, one still in critical condition.  The city has an 11 PM curfew.  City was quick to point out that it wasn't the fault of local officials, that they were out after curfew.
