Does anyone or everyone carry back-up guns, in case of breakage at a match ?

Four-Eyed Buck

As I aquired more guns, I started taking backups for each type( revolver, rifle, shotgun). In eight years, I've only needed one twice. Generally, I only take backups to annual or big( regional) matches......Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

I shoot Frontiersman. During one of my first annual matches ('94 or '95) THREE of the 4 guns I started the match with broke parts or became disabled before the match was over (cheap handsprings on ASM C&Bs and a worn out SXS). I ended up borrowing a shotgun and another revolver from a friend & fellow Frontiersman. He still kids me about how he loaned me one of his own revolvers to beat him with. Since I was quite impressionable in those days I went through an "accumulation stage" so I would never have to borrow guns and could lend assistance to others who needed them. I routinely take a spare rifle, shotgun, and two extra revolvers to monthly matches. I haven't broken a hand spring since but have loaned out the shotgun a time or two. I've had a rifle jam up once in a while (til I learned to TIGHTEN THE SCREWS before leaving for the match). To an annual or Regional match I will take no less than 4 and usually 5 revolvers because I'm one of those "what if it breaks" types. Besides, sometimes they do.

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

My wife and I go together. If one has a problem with a shootin' iron, the other's is available as the backup. We can just share, then. Of course, the last time that happened, my wife borrowed my '73 carbine to use in place of her .92 carbine. I had to buy her one to get mine back. :D
