Okay, this is the beastie that's on the cover of American Handgunner and it is even prettier than the pictures. A 5 1/2" SAA copy with the 4 click hammer and the 2 notch cylinder rod [which I think is a great and simple way to deal with the goofy import laws]. Action is very smooth and the wood for the grips has a nice color and even some grain pattern. 3 cylinders for .357 Magnum, 9x19mm and .38 Super give it huge versatility. If the excrement ever does hit the oscillator, this will be my bug out gun with my Rossi 92 in .357.

 :)  Well Now  ;)

Deacon, your first order of business will be to remove the Cylinder Base Pin and cut the last 3/32 off and then dress it.  You may also have to tap out the Cylinder Bushing and dress it as well.  Those seem to be the only Bugaboos present in the New Build Pietta(s).  The new Main Spring is superb right out of the box!!

It will be after Christmas before I get to take it to the range as the Missus decided she was going to pay for part of it for my Christmas present!

Nah, Pietta base pin sucks even when shortened.  Just replace with a standard length Uberti pin or shorten a 2-position Uberti pin.

ALL right awhready!!  Sheesh.  I have to agree.  The singular position "notches" of the Pietta Base Pin . . . SUCK!!  However, comma hiccup, I were mostly considering saving a few shekels.  And, not withstanding, mostly when I have looked, the Uberti Base Pins have been "out of stock."

I hear ya!! I didn't replace mine, I just extended the front "notch" all the way around  .  .  .  (groovy ?!!)
and shortened it accordingly.

I wondered about that, seems a simple task for my mini lathe or a drill press if you have one.
when planets align...do the deal !

Yap, can't believe they get away with those "hard to line up" notches!!

 :) OH BOTHER-N-STUFF ;)

So yea.  After you shorten that sucker.  And dress the end.  And polish it up a bit.  Simple to just chuck it up inna Cordless Drill Motor and make that notch "Real Groovy."  SO:  Why didn't I think of that FIRST dammit!!!  :o  8)  ;D

 :) HA HA  ;)

YEP.  I planted one-0-them mini spy cams (yule never find it Ho Ho).  The kicker is, "I" actually still have a lathe.  Unfortunately, itsa Wood Lathe.  Not really practical for metal work.  I have, in the past though, used my Drill Press as a vertical lathe and as a Mill for small projects.

Butt and however, my "Most Used" machining tool since I retired is a Cordless Drill Motor.  Amazing what you can do with one.  And the "set-up" time is near Zero.
