Clays and Clays Dot powders has been missing from the shelves in Michigan for a while, so I bought Unique to try instead. I haven't bought powder in 2-3 years so the $54.95/pound price was steep but not really a surprise these days. Lumpy Grits has listed several times that a 17 gr Unique powder load with 3/4 or 7/8 oz shot is ideal for our sport. I'll soon find out as I change from my 14 gr Clay Dot, 7/8 oz load to Unique Powder. Most likely will test using the same MEC 25 bushing as the charts show it will drop 17.1 gr Unique. Of course, I'll measure a few drops to make sure.
Anybody else using Unique Power for their Cowboy or Wild Bunch Loads?

I saw Lumpy's suggestions, he will suggest Unique for everything.  ;D   I'm sure it will work, you'll have to judge how well, how dirty maybe?  And obviously, if it knocks 'em down.  I've used Unique for a variety of cartridges for CAS but never shotshells.  I, too was using Clays, which I'm down to a half pound, and I've got a few lbs. of ClayDot, a couple of Extralite, 8 of Red Dot, all of which are good for 12ga so I bought when they were available a year ago.  But those are all just in reserve as I also switched back then to Winchester WST for my shotshells.  Works great, I use 14.4gr in my 7/8 oz loads.  More importantly, it is usually available, though I have plenty.  I was using it for my .38's as well, but switched those to N320, also available, to save the WST for shotshells.  They've all gone way up.  Some Hodgdon powders are still reasonably priced, and they have a few that are okay for shotshells. But you've got Unique and you have a load, so let us know how they do.

Edit to add: when I said "available" that would mostly mean mail order, which includes hazmat and shipping.  But places like Natchez often have free hazmat or free shipping, and I would buy 10K of primers when they were $75/K plus powder to spread the cost around.  Plus there's a single range about 30 minutes from here that always has lots of powder so I'm lucky that way.

 :) Well Heck ;)

I actually have nothing useful to add pertaining to Unique.  Well, except Lumpy recommends Unique for everything.  I think he even brushes his dentures with the stuff.  However:

To avoid messing around with all that Heathen Smokeless Stuff, I recommend American Pioneer Powder for EVERYTHING.  2F for my All Brass 12Ga, 3F for my Cap Guns and 3F for ALL my cartridge/calibers.  It's (APP) truly UNIQUE (snicker snicker).

OK, IT'S Tuesday Evening on Mouse Safari, and the Tracker Dog was Poorly today so the hunt was called off and I'm bored out of my skull.  So I jumped in here with pertinent to the OP just for something to do.  And to see if I could suck in some poor unsuspecting tyros who also have nothing to read.  If you're reading this, It's too late.  You're already here and there is no going back.  GOTCHA!!
