Sar!  Beg to report the Spouses club of Ft. Leonard Wood will be having a "Wild West Night"  at the Audie Murphy club on base.  The local CAS club has been invited to add color, and perhaps perform a few Blank aided skits.  I beg to report to the commander that I will be attending in the M1885 Full dress uniform, saber and revolver.  (We have been granted permmission to carry weapons on base.)  Anticipate much questioning from the local military personnell.

Ahhhh, Ft Leonard Wood (it's called somethin' else very often, too).  ::)
It's right where I started my military life 20-some years back.

This is the first time I've ever thought that I wanted to go back to that post.  :o

Good luck on your big night.  ;D ;D
Please post some pictures here in THE BARRACKS.

Sgt rydock, as I recall, yes,  Ft Lost in the Woods.  I was back a few years ago it was still no fun.  But at least you will make it an enjoyable evening, as will as provide a history lesson for the young troopers.  Good Luck.

Mustang Gregg sounds like you also enjoyed the fun winter hikes also being in the old barracks and having to go to the latren in the middle of the ice cold nights.  PT in the frozen weather.  Having to walk miles to get any place. Yes the fun time we all had.

Ft. Lost in the Woods brings back some interesting memories.  When I was still in high school and on into college I participated in many NRA high power shooting matches on the known distance range there.  It is the ONLY place that I have ever laid on the firing line of the 600 yard range with sand blowing into my face in the RAIN.  I had a lot of good times shooting on that range.  Wish that I could still shoot as good now as I did back then.  [We're talkin 1956 - 65 when I went off to the Army for real.]

-After action report-

Beg to report sir, a successful engagement.  Made several rounds of the establishment, answering many questions.   A few confused my uniform with that of a Marine, one Lite Colonel thought it Prussian.  (Actualy rather impressed with that, at least he got the influence right.)  Many got surprisingly close.  Perhaps not so surprisingly, as there is a life sized picture of General Leanord Wood in the officer version of my uniform posted at the main gate pass office!

Later participated in a gunfighter skit, where I am pleased to report my dying in a loud, professional military manner.

Unfortunatly, the cameral was left at home (always forget something) so I have no visual documentation of the action.
