Good to know. I have never owned a 61 personally but have always thought they were yet another beauty in the Colt Open Top line up.

Some Lustrum ago, when I first saw the ASM Richards replicants, and realized their "1860" and such were actually built on the 1861, I decided those Conversions were the sexiest conversions ever built. Too bad the QC was soo Abysmal. I did however, own several of the ASM guns. Probably should have kept 'em (Nah).

Bear creek has really good (and affordable) heeled .375 bullets. Old West Bullet molds has a heeled bullet crimp tool. REALLY ACCURATE, but like hot, fast powders (WW231, Unique< and real BP and Triple 7. APP is a no go with heeled .38s, though.

Hey Abilene, you put the Kirst 2 step hand in you shooter? I was told it was designed for the five cylinders and would probably be too long for the 6 shot 38 cylinders.

Yes, I mentioned that in the first post. Kirst's site just says for Army and Navy. Made no difference really in operation except action does feel smoother.

Yeah I read that in the original post, just wanted clarification, they say it's for the 5 shot .45 cylinders, be they '60 or '51....might have to look into that for my Navy conversions.

I have two Pietta 1860/1851 .44 conversions in which I installed the Kirst two step hands. Does make a difference with bringing the 5 shot cylinders up into battery. They work really well. I haven't yet tried them with an 1851 .36 conversion.
