I love the smell of Black Powder in the morning!

Good morning all! Back to the Back Doc again this AM. Much improved, almost feeling human again. 75 here now, getting back to normal mid to upper 80s now. Sunny and watching the hummingbirds chase each other around at the feeder. Slim, have a good time at the Zoot Shoot! Del, congrats on the move, being closer to family is important.

Ooh Tommyguns, always makes me miss mine, until I pick one up again! Yikes. No wonder it took young guys to lug those things around all day. Anyway on the subject of guns, ran by the LGS to swap out some hardware one a couple of long guns, put linear compensators on a Mini30 and a 300 Blackout AR. Went by Wallyworld and bought a metal pan and some nail polish remover [it's pur acetone] and when I got home detail stripped the Tisas and then soaked the slide in the remover. After about a half hour, I started scrubbing with 0000 steel wool and it stripped that rattle can paint right off. They had already stripped the bluing/parkerizing off, so I have a bare slide to work with now. I am taking pictures as I go along, so I will get them posted later. Anyway, gonna relax for a bit now.

One of my favorite TV shows, "Combat!", starred the actor Vic Morrow. He toted a Thompson. The first few episodes it was the real McCoy he lugged around, but soon his complaints about the weight earned him an aluminum copy for static shots. Much lighter.

Very cool, I've done a couple of rattle can assaulted guns,
one was a Walther AC 41 P38 and the other a
WW1 Ruby.
The Ruby became mine, and went under the acetone wash (I keep a Pint under my work bench)
First photo is before - also note the grips are polyurethane coated and are on upside down.

2nd photo is after Note: the original Blue is about 90%, no clue why it was painted.
3rd photo shows the French acceptance stars, which were obscured by the spray paint.

Here is the P38, both guns came from the same source, again no idea why they were painted..
Only surmised for looks

1st photo before
2nd soaking in the acetone wash

and finally
3rd & 4th there was no original finish anywhere, but the gun was fully functionable.
