Hi Y'all. New to forum. I'm looking for a saddle ring and staple, loading gate ( spring cover) and dust cover  (mortise cover) with stop, spring and screws for my '73 made in 1886, Ser # 60221. I assume that it is a 2nd model, but not sure.  Got a bunch of questions but I'll save them for later.  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Afchap

One of the first places to look is Numrich Gun Parts  https://www.gunpartscorp.com/
They have been around forever and are always getting new stock in, so check regularly.
And Welcome to the place.

PS: Don't be scared of Coffinmaker, he hasn't been the same since he confused a pinch of black powder for his dipping snuff... ;)

I've seen a number of times over the years where folks find some of their parts on ebay so definitely keep your eye on that.

If 60221 is the correct serial number, it is a second model, made in 1880.  You need dust cover and parts for a second model.  Only the 1st model has the mortised dust cover, not the 2nd model.

Thanks for great info guys.  Thanks especially to Buck for confirming my model number. My next question: Does the loading gate on 2nd model fasten from inside our outside? If from the outside, does the loading gate have threads? Thanks again...

Buck Stinson

Afchap,
Your 2nd model had the loading gate threaded and the screw entered from the outside.
