Anyone use or know, what a Lyman .32 pistol DA standard reloading seater die, was designed for?

I just got a used 32-20 die set off Ebay.  The sizer is marked 32-20.  The expander is 31R at 0.310, fine for .0.312 bullet.  But it is the seater die that is marked as the title indicates and that is total uncommon to me.

So has anyone seen this type of die combination before in a set or is it a custom die?  The 'neck and only about an 1/16" of the shoulder' goes into the die before hitting the crimp step.  It does form a crimp (only used a bad piece of brass and hammer tapped it, to examine the crimp shape).  My press is not set up at this time.

Thanks for any knowledge and experience.

I once owned a Lyman .32-20 die set with the seating die marked "LYMAN 32/20 DA" (per an old picture).  Didn't end up getting a .32-20 and eventually sold it---then bought a .32-20 Police Positive Special a couple months later.  Never actually used the Lyman dies, so I have nothing more for you.

The seating die is probably for a .32 Smith & Wesson or .32 Smith & Wesson Long.  No clue why it would be in a 32-20 die set.

Thanks, that is what I was wondering.  This is different from Hair Trigger Jim's experience with a die stamped specifically 32-20.  The set must have been pieced together, I guess.

I'll check the nomenclature on my set,and get back to you.

I have 4 different guns in 32/20 and use three different bullets.

a Colt SA, S&W Hand Ejector DA, an 1892 Winchester, and a JM Marlin CL circa 1982.

The bullets vary in weight Revolvers VS Rifles and the original Winchester gets BP lubed
