1897 Lever in 39A

Gentlemen, Does anyone here know if an 1897 lever will work in a 39A?  Also, does anyone know if the straight lever can be bent to the pistol grip version?  Thanks!

Being that the 1897 lever is straight (as you know) i doubt it would work. I'm not sure if it could be bent to work. I think it would be better just to look for a used 39a lever. Think i've seen them for sale on ebay from time to time. I just checked there is a 39a lever on ebay now for 36.95.
