Happy New Year..........beside shooting cas, I'm also a trap shooter and I have a old sxs 12 ga. L.C..Smith trap shotgun and can only shoot b/p shells though it. So, I reloaded a dozen, Wind. AA hulls, 80gr.ff holy black, card over powder, wad cushion, 1 1/8 oz. #8 shot, crimped it and looks good. But, before I shoot them, I like to know what you pards of the load, what load do you use.

Lars

Cannot say anything regarding "an old L. C. Smith trap gun" based on nothing more than that description.

I can say that for BP trap my heaviest 12 gauge load was 1,0 oz of shot #7 1/2 or #8 shot, same volume of Goex FFg or Pyrodex-P or 12,5% less volume of 777 FFG, nitro (over powder) card wad, 1/2 inch lubed fiber wad, hartin crimp on 65 mm (cut down from 70 mm) Winchester AA or Remington STS hulls, Winchester 209 or Remington STS primers. In my old Husqvarnas with 75 cm barrels this load is good for 25/25 at 16-18 yard line from either full or 1/2 choked barrels .
