Can anyone reccomend a shop for barrel refinishing?  Rust blue and polish a Damascus double.

He does not have an internet presence.  You can find his contact info as well as Andrews on the LCSCA.org site.  (LC Smith Shotgun Collectors Assoc)

Do be sitting down when you hear the quote.  Depending on the amount of polishing and other work needed, it can run $400-800.  Last I heard, Briley was about $750 for a double.

That said, the barrels I saw were beautifully done (especially knowing what they looked like a year earlier).  And if you're going to have the barrels redone, it is a good time to have the bores polished, chokes adjusted, bead replaced, etc.
In my book a pioneer is a man who turned all the grass upside down, strung bob-wire over the dust that was left, poisoned the water, cut down the trees, killed the Indian who owned the land and called it progress.  Charles M. Russell

Just tried again and it worked this time.  Thanks!

We have exchanged several emails.  He's been up front and easy to communicate with, and has a well known presence and reputation at the DoubleGun BBS forum.  He has a 6 month backlog of restorations, hope to get to mine early next year.

Update: received an email from DGP, he expects to ship the barrels back on the 15th. The bill comes with them. Further info when in hand.

All this and never mentioned the gun. It's a 1889 grade 2 Remington 12ga.

What was once a rusty piece of pipe is now this.  He also emailed me a file with pictures of the process, way too big to post here unfortunately, but I consider this $400 very well spent.  The barrels were uniformly covered with a layer of brown rust, sandpaper to the touch.

 :) Ah Hemmm  ;)

What, might I ask, is, "HOLY BLACK??"  Has someone managed to convinced some form of clergyman to "bless" a container of Black Powder???  Or, is someone manufacturing little discs of BP with little holes in the center??  Ala "trail boss?"

I don't believe there to be anything intrinsically "Holy" about gun powder.

FORGOT:  Meant to add that's some fine looking patterning on those Damascus Barrels.  Just wish the Tin Type was a sharper image.
