I have a stainless RV that has lost it's front sight twice. The first time I soldered it on with lead solder. Did I just do a bad job of soldering or should I have used Silver Solder?  If I use silver solder this time, do I need to worry about discoloring the stainless barrel ?
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Take your time to shoot straight, but do it quickly !

Silver solder is what we always use on our front sights on muzzleloaders. They don't come off. You do have to apply a lot of heat though. If I was you I'd call Ruger, tell them their sight came off, and they'll probably replace it for free under their warranty.

Don't do this if you changed their parts. You'll probably get it back with their parts in it again unless you disassemble the revolver first.
