That seems like a nice gun for a good price, if you can find one.

It appears they all went directly to the auction sites.

Recently procured one. It was easy, I work a gun counter these days and check in the inventory. I "poached" the first one. $588 out the door. Runs like a dream, absolutely the best out of the box gun I have ever owned. Springfield did their homework on this one!

It looks great, but I bet it still bites my hand.  I've always wondered why they don't just extend the tang.

I haven't seen one loose in the wild yet, perhaps a good thing for my wallet.

I do have two Springfield products, the above EMP made 6 /2020,
I grabbed at my frendly LGS on consignment. (PO had traded it in for a Hellcat)
and a 1911 Milspec made 12/2015 I'm quite fond of.

I also have a Browning like, MAB PA15 Military which was originally purchased in a US Army PX Heidelberg, Germany 1981.
I'll treasure, it was the last trade with my late best friend just days before he passed . :(
MAB PA 15  Controls are Browning Hi-power like,  in fact FN Herstal owned financial interest in MAB.

Well, you need "something" in 9mm just so when the apocalypse comes you will be able to shoot any 9mm ammo you come across.  :D  Right now my only 9mm is a Keltec P11.  Thinking I need a 9mm 1911, but then I've never shot a Hi-Power.  I should try one out some day.  Had a CZ75B once that was super-reliable.

I never had a 9mm until a few years ago. I committed a sin by building a 9mm 1911 out of Rock Island slide & frame, the guts are Wilson Combat. It shoots very nice. Since then I bought a Sig 226 and the SA-35. I cast all my own bullets for the ammo. I enjoy shooting the round, but I agree, there is no replacement for displacement. ;D

I saw an article lately, FN is producing High Power's again too, but they're "new and improved" so maybe the Springfield version is more true to the original design.

I understand the FN is priced almost twice as much. I don't see how it can be twice as good as the Springfield. We shall see.

Springfield seems to have corrected this problem. I have around 500 rounds through mine, excellent trigger, no bite, decent sights, no jams.....yet.

Almost bought a post war FN a few years ago. but the serial number had been shaved :o

Hi YEARS AGO, the BATF would put on a new serial number if you turned it in.  A friend of mine did that on a 16 gauge that he found somewhere in water (if memory serves) before 1980.  No clue what they'd do now.

I've had read where a BATF S# can be applied (though I don't know the procedure) or if that is still the case (laws change).
I believe it pertained to a gun that never had a serial number.
There was a time when a number was not a universal requirement.

An FN was not one of those, the gun in question had grip tape where the shaved S# should have been.
The gun could not be legally sold without the S#. The consigner/possessor was so informed.

The possessor (I use that, in leu of OWNER  :-\) was given the benefit of doubt and was advised to disassemble the gun for parts and destroy the frame.
Having it is a felony.
