No, Buck, I don't think so.  I tried a brass hammer and it still wouldn't go back on.  Just one of those odd things that happen.  Like I said before, those little men named Jack keep showing up and messing things up.  I'm gonna get even with them tonight, I am going to have a Crown Royal and Amaretta with a glass of ice water on the side.  Hope it will drive those little guys back into the woodwork.

Well,

I was ready to hit the soogans when I read Nubbins Colt's review of the CD guns in the SASS Chronicle.

I've been shootin' Uberti's practically since Day ONe of my CAS experience.

Always figured that Pietta was a company that only made BP guns, and at that, only of lesser quality.

Then, I read all the posts in this thread.

My Ubertis are great; no problem with them.  But, like most clones, they need an action job.

Most of my Ubertis are close to bein' "shot out" after many years of faithful service.

Now, I'm wonderin' if mebbe the CD's may be the answer to my prayers:

A CAS hogleg that is match ready -- right out of the box.  The AWA's were supposed to be that.  I bought some and sold 'em, 'cause they weren't.

Went back to the Uberti's (Navy Arms, Taylor's , Davidson's,  Cimmarons) and just kept on shootin' 'em.

Here's my main question.  Are the CD's of the QUALITY that we need for our demandiin' CAS sport?

Do you think they have the stayin' power needed for our game?

Personally, I am reluctant to buy anythin' built by Pietta.  But, mebbe with CNC machiinin' and modern QC standards, mebbe they have overcome their past failin's of soft steel and rough machine marks?

At approx. $400 (I modified this dollar amount from the original post) per hogleg, the CD's are comparable in price to a Cimmaron Cavalry or Army model, etc.

Any comments will be appreciated, pards!

Ride on,

awwww, I could miss a bunch.  ;D I could miss maybe 25 out of a hundred if tried.

Actually, I really like the look of the Charles Daly and I am saving up for some. I really liked the article that Bottom Dealing Mike wrote on them. I understand they are similar to the EMF offering, but I just gotta get a pair of the Dalys. I have been following Davidsons stock and I figure about the time they get some in with the polished stainless I will have enough saved up.
Thanks for the great report CC. You are making me drool. :)

I might have made a mistake but I had the backstrap, buttplate and the trigger guard engraved while I was at Ambush.  They looked so good I had my Uberti's(ss.45) done with the same pattern of engraving.  Please don't ask me what the engravers name is.  I forgot.

I sure do think they'll hold up Pinto. All interior parts are heat treated & polished. Besides that they have a lifetime warranty. If they break or wear out place a toll free call to KBI & they'll have FedEx pick them up and repair or replace them at no cost to you.

Just a heads up, someone from Charles Daly posted on a similar link on the SASS Wire that the Logos are being omitted on the next batch of guns and the barrel markings are gonna be smaller and moved to the side of the barrel instead of the top. Said that they were doing this because of feed back on the earlier guns from us cowboys......Buck 8) ::) ;) ;D

Col. Riddles and the gang...

I tried a pard's CD revolver at our range recently.  Nice gun!  Good, smooth action as y'all have stated.  And the price he paid was good.  I was suitably impressed.  No bucks for new guns right now, but I've got the intent...

As Four-Eyed Buck (gotta love that alias!) stated, Charles Daly's will be comin' out with new grips soon.  If I was Charley Daniels, I'd buy the original grips!  Haw!

Since I have had my CD's(ss .38's) I have shot one clean match a couple of first place finishes and several 2nd places.  This past Sat. I shot our monthly match and only missed one target.  It was my fault.  1st. place sure felt good.  I have setteled my problem with CD.  Talked to one of the nicest Reps. I have ever done business with.  I am a happy comper now.
