Replacement rear carbine sight

After putting over 400 rounds through the Armi Spencer carbine I have come to the conclusion I need a better rear sight.    The one on mine is poorly made and even after I have opened the slot on the sight I cannot get a consistent sight picture.  The rear base that contains the slot is not high enough to prevent the folded ladder from interfering with my sight picture.  Through the search I found that back several years ago a machinist in Georgia made a run of rear carbine sights.  Has this been tried recently?  Or, does anyone have one or knows a source for one?
