Lee 230gr RN in 45 ACP problem..

I am trying a new bullet for my Ruger SR1911 Wild Bunch pistol. The Lee 230gr RN with microgrooves. But I have som problems when there is one round left in the magazine. The empty case from the round before gets stuck on the way out, and the pistol jams up.  It has happened several times with different brands of magazines. What are your loads and OAL's when using this bullet in 45 ACP?

What are you calling 'stuck'? Stovepipe, actually stuck in the chamber, flipped backwards in the action? My first wag is your extractor, without the muscle of the magazine spring to help eject the case maybe?  Another thought would be the difference in recoil between a loaded and an mty pistol is messing with the extraction. The lighter the gun is the snappier the recoil. Do you shoot duelist or modern? It shoots the top 5-6 rds fine and then acts up and it's happened with multiple mags, its a gun thing not a bullet thing. But all this is a wag. Sure someone smarter will be along shortly.

Stovepipe is just what it sounds like, the open end of the mty brass is sticking straight up trapped by the slide. Just rake the case rearward with the heel of your off hand to remove. The next round is usually in or partly in the chamber. Weak loads or not locking your wrist can cause it. What is your powder and load? I'm currently running 3.5-4.0 gr of Bullseye with a 200 gr rnfp or semi wad cutter long nose bullet. Had been using Clays or Clay Dot.

When your springs are properly tuned the empties should LAND 3'-9' from you when ejected. Sounds as if you need more powder or slightly lighter spring. Mags are also important, but they will usually give you a double feed towards the end of the mag if the lip spread is to much or they don't have the proper spring tension.

Thank  for the replies so far. I use 4.7grains of VV320 and a slightly lighter spring than standard on the Ruger SR1911.
