How does the trigger compare to the Colt Peacemaker?

Okay, I am presuming you are talkin modern replicas, so that is how I can answer. Two Schofields comparing to 2 Opentops, four Uberti SAAs and a genuine Colt Bisley, I think that the Schofields are possessors of good crisp triggers. The Ubertis have good triggers, 3 of the 4 being very crisp but heavy. The Colt puts them all to shame, but it is a Bisley, made when Colts were the target standard of the world. So I would try the S&W, see how you like the grip, it is more of an adjustment than the trigger to me.

What about reloading, how fast and easy is it to open and reload- do the spent cases pop out or do you have to pick them out? Thanks.

I've seen many different Schofield shooters at the unloading table as CAS matches.  Since rules say the barrel has to still be downrange, they hold the barrel almost straight up, maybe 15 degrees or so downrange, with one hand and then unlatch and swing the frame forward and up, so the barrel remains up or downrange, and the empties always fall out on the table.

Abilene nailed it, the shells come right out. Run it enthusiastically and it will kick the cases right out.

With my Schofields, I unload with the barrel pointed down range, undo the barrel latch. With the barrel still down range, I roll the gun over so it is upside down (grip up) then lift the barrel so that the shells are ejected down on to the bench.

Regarding the trigger, Mine are good, but unlike the Colt, you must take pressure off the trigger to cock the gun. Also, on mine there is a tensioning screw on the grip frame to adjust main spring tension.

I love the look, love topbreak Webleys too but the stupid trigger/hammer/finger lock thing ruins a terrific revolver. I wish someone did a mod for that. If you don't care about winning they are fun.

Howdy B. Ed,

First, I have to admit that I am far from fast. I shoot CC or Duelist. I also shoot Colts, Opentops and Remington and Dragoon conversions and almost never have a problem with the Schofield trigger deal. It's likely that shooting duelist reduces the problem compared to the two-handed style (which my experience indicates is faster). There is certainly no way to slip hammer a Schofield.

That's all I understand about what I know about it.

It looks like from the video that whn you break it open all the spent cases get tossed into the air.

Yeah, but she also got a SDQ for breaking the 170 with an unloaded gun.    That's why the CAS shooters don't unload it that way.
