On special orders, how long does Cimarron take?  I ordered a Cimarron Thunderer in USA finish with Fleur De Lys grips about 10 months ago, and still nothing.  My dealer is going to the shot show this weekend and Cimarron is on his hit list.  I ordered the Cimarron because of Boy Scout connections.  The National Boy Scout Camp, Philmont, is next to Cimarron, New Mexico, and the Fleur De Lys is the leading Boy Scout symbol.  I wanted it to go along with the Winchester 9422 engraved Eagle Scout Rifle I recently found in an Estate sale.

Howdy,

Most of Cimarron's guns are made by Uberti in Italy.  They get what Uberti makes, when Uberti makes it.  There is no way of knowing how long your particular guns will take to show up.  My best advice to you is to check with Cimarron directly.  Pick up the phone and call them.

Adios,

Thank you for being you.. Annie Lee!

I got them to move faster when I called them directly and a week later my FFL had my guns.

They can't produce guns they don't have in stock.

Sometimes your FFL dealer's order gets deep sixed into the pile of orders and they will give it attention if you call them.  Also, if they are backordered, they can give you a delivery time and then it helps to call them when that time has arrived.  Believe me, I have done it and it works.

Hell-Er High Water

I had my FFL order a pair of 38 Special Open Tops from them in November.  At that time he was told that they would be available around the first of the year.  As of earlier this week they were still another 60-90 days out.  I guess that they will get here when they get here.  In the mean time, I have heard that other suppliers will now be importing Uberti firearms and I am checking with them for anticipated delivery times and pricing.

My wife's Model P jrs took a year and a half to come in about three or four years ago. They were worth the wait though, plus they came in as consecutives. The shop I ordered through was considered one of their premier outlets in this area. He sold a lot of Cimarron's for them. The Italians work on their own schedules and the Importers don't have much control over when product shows up.........Buck 8) ::) :-\
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Major 2

I called my FFL to order an Cimarron open top , he was told they were out of stock.
I wanted Army Grips (my FFL was confused as to my wants)
So I called Cimarron, to confirm and they had one and in my caliber.
Cimmarron called my FFL and the gun was in my hands in two days.
when planets align...do the deal !

Thanks to all for your comments, my dealer and I will have to be patiently prodding!

:) My Dealer met with Cimarron at the Shot Show and was told from the very nice gal there that she would personally see the order through.  Because I ordered the USA finish and special grips, somewhere along the line things got mixed up.  Hope to see it sometime soon, but I can be patient.

I ordered a pair of '72 open tops last Thursday (in .44 Colt w/5 1/2" bbl), they came in this Monday.  That caught me a bit short as I don't have the loading dies or bullets yet (from Midway), those little guns sure are nice.

Well it finally came in!  The gun is very nice.  The only thing that surprised me was that the special grips I ordered came in three pieces in a bag which I needed to assemble and fit.  It is now finally done.  The extra USA finish was well worth the money too as the finish is grand.
