Need information on a spencer serial #43712 just acquired this rifle and trying to find any history on it. I would appreciate any help I was told Beaucoup could help but cant find him. I would appreciate any help.

Thankyou

It would probably help someone look it up if you could settle on a single serial number--343712 vs. 43712.  I suspect you meant the latter, but a photo or three would be nice.

Looks like you have a Spencer Carbine, and NOT a Spencer rifle.  Look under the forearm and on the underside of the barrel you will find the carbine's serial #, and it should be the same serial # as found on the top of the receiver.  Just verify the numbers, please.

Does it have any factory markings on the top of the receiver or breech end of the barrel other than the serial number?  Can you post a photo of the opening in the top of the receiver and measure the length of the barrel?  Those can help identify the specific model--1860, 1865, 1867, or New Model.

Friend Garry, to clear a little confusion, my use of "beaucoup" on the FaceBook forum was not to reference a proper name but to reference the French usage, meaning "much".

Thanks just what someone gave me
