Well I did pick-up a 457191 sc. ,, sort of ,, I was wondering what as cast weigh , some of you other members are getting with your Lyman 457191's . I Cast at about 11-13 BHN., and am getting from .318gns. to .320gns. , depending how I hold my beer ( not really I don't drink ,, beer ). This mould is "OLD " and must have cast a bazillion bullets ( i'm work'n on it ,, the bullets are getting somewhat rounder ). I did shoot a few in my 45-60 ( thank you DT ) w/ RL-7 , surprised me they stayed in a 2 1/2" circle at 50yds. :o , will add a filler and see.

  coffee's ready ,, Hootmix.

Black River Smith

My original Win mold drops 291.1gr with original 1/16 Tin to lead alloy.

My new purchased Lyman 457191 mold drops 291.6 with the 1/16 alloy.

BRS,, thank you , like I said this old mould has seen better days, but it did shoot pretty good ,at 50 yds. I see a blur , I just shoot to the middle of the blur.

Hey O'L son ,, I had a surprise flood ,, again ,, only that guy w/ the ARK & animal's knows how I feel ,, but it has been dry . Trying to get to the range today to try some more 191's & RL-7. Wife throwed out a 12' alum skillet , said it was worthless  ??? ,,,, may be to "you " ,, 50 yard'r ( ha ).

coffee's ready ,, Hootmix.

Be sure and turn the open face away from you ,or should I say shoot the bottom of the skillet . Ask how I know . Hung one up at my plinking range in the back yard shot it with the 32 Long Colt 1892 Marlin . At 45 yds the bullets would bounce back at me . Turned it around and the bullets would just drop into the sand after hitting the skillet . Skillet shooting is a sport of its own . Stay dry Amigo ,,,DT

Thanks for the warning ,, some how I don't think our 45-60 will be bouncing back, ( famous last words ) but to be safe I will save it for 100yds. Just loaded up one of your favorite's 3031 ,w/ .4 Dacron filler w/ 457191's . Shot 5 rds. the last time out , 3 rds. you could cover w/ a nickel , the other 2 I pulled just to the left .We are suppose to have a gun show here in town this weekend,,, we'll see ?? The weather man say's " Rain this weekend ".
Have to go lay a cowboy friend to rest Sun., :( we rode cutt'n horses together and gathered wild cattle for other folks ( back in the day ).
