Just picked up a New Model and noticed the grip fit has a gap, unlike my Old Models. Is this normal for the grips on new Models?

Yesssiree Bob.  I never thought the Fit of Wood to Metal in the Ruger line was much to write home about, but of late it has gotten worse.  Ruger grips are NOT made in house and are not fit to the individual gun.  The grips are made on CNC routing machines to a certain specification.  One size fits All sort of thing.
