Why do they call a pigs shoulder a butt?

A butt of wine is 126 gallons and weight 1000 pounds, so a butt load is 1/2 a ton and a tun holds 252 gallons and weighs about 2000 pounds.

My butt don't weigh a 1000 pounds nor is it my shoulder.

If I run at you and hit you with my head that's also a butt as well as what is left after smoking a cigar.

If I glue to boards together end to end I butt them up. ::)

Del? Did you get some new meds? ;) ;D ;D

Just an inquiring mind.   ;)   I though nice butts were well liked.

So a man of 14 or 15 stones could drink maybe a hogshead of wine in a short period. However traveling he may need a horse of 16 hands. A few more horse of equal size, to carry is ration of 2 hogs heads or a butt with him for the journey.

Good Morning All!
Hot coffee is in those little plastic cups, water is hot . . .

Bacon, eggs and toast for everyone as soon as the Grandson is up.
We started seeds for the vegetable garden last week, indoors. Tomato, kale, broccoli and bush beans, others to follow.

A murder of crows has moved into the neighborhood and are making their opinion known with their loud cawing. These are the huge War Crow fellows, so the Winter kill being revealed by the receding snow will get cleaned up.
Nature's balance is wonderful to ponder this Sunday.

Went to the Post Office yesterday, and the Secondhand Sports equipment store next door was having a sale. Saw four guys in their 20-somethings each carrying out golf clubs in a bag. Evidently some kind of Spring Ritual is coming. No doubt will involve lots of energy. Hope springs eternal.

When we had our landline phone put in last month, they had to wait several days so the guys could come and mark all the buried wires. The marker guys showed up-the day AFTER they buried the phone lines, and marked them nicely. Also marked the newly buried electric lines, although the orange marker paint didn't show up as well on the mound of red clay where we buried the electric wire.

Spring signs here also, the Eurasian Collared Doves that don't belong here are back, that's the ones who cry "I'm Stupid, I'm Stupid" instead of cooing and the big Flicker, a perckerhead bird has been beating his head on the tree outside at daylight recent mornings.  ::)   My two least favorite neighborhood birds are back. ::)

Flickers are beautiful!

Not at daylight when you are trying to sleep, should find it's nest and play loud music all night. ;D
