Pattern Wanted
« on: Today at 10:07:59 AM »

Can somebody please tell me if there is a book or something somewhere that has a good pattern for a simple Mexican double  loop holster in it?? Or, better yet, does anybody have one that they might share with me?? Not trying to do it for a living or anything, just wanting to try my hand at making some stuff. I have tried and tried to make my own pattern but can't seem to get it done.

Major, you posted the link to Will Ghormley's page I would have. His Cheyenne style pattern is a very good one for a Mexican Loop holster. Thanks for that.

If you don't like Will's patterns, you may want to get a copy of Al Stohlman's 'How To Make Holsters' available at Tandy. https://tandyleather.com/collections/books-patterns/products/how-to-make-holsters-book It not only has instructions on how to make your own pattern but contains some quite nice patterns.

If you can find a copy of Chuck Burrows' DVD "Frontier Holsters with Chuck Burrows" it will show how do everything it takes to make a Mexican double loop or Slim Jim holster. It includes pattern making and modification, cutting the leather, Carving the Slim Jim, Sewing, and finishing.
It is all you would need if you can find a copy.

I just checked at Amazon.com and they have both a new copy and two used copies of these DVD's. In my opinion they are the best instruction material available on this subject.
