Roughout leather

I'm finding it hard to find roughout leather. What do pards here use? Just ordinary veg tan reversed?

If you have leather that is shaved and the back is really smooth and consistent, that will work. That is how I've made rough-out belts and holsters in the past. I haven't seen leather that nice in years, though.

If you want to order leather to use rough-out, you should tell the supplier your needs and see if they have a grade that will work for you.
