Does anyone have a source for the early Uberti 66 screw that holds the ladle to the side plate.  VTI is a no go.

Hi Joe, I recently saw mention that Track of the Wolf had both early and later replacement gates with screws, and they show them in stock.  I don't know if they sell the screws separately.

Would that you should crawl around all the corners and such, with a nice BIG magnet, sticking said magnet into ALL the dust bunnies, you'll be surprised at what you find.  Perhaps even that tiny little screw.  Or not.

Probably have to source the whole shebang.  Ladle and all.  Incidentally, the after-Market deep scoop Ladles are better than the OEM ladles for loading.  Just reinforce the stupid little tab thingie.

Thanks for the info.  I have the TOW ladles on both my "66s.  the broke 66 belongs to a friend.   The screw fell out at a monthly match and disappeared.

I can find the TOW ladle but not the screws.  I purchased a ladle a few months back, but it did not come with a screw.  TOW has a lot of screws listed, if my friend could figure out the size, TOW probably has something that will work.

Don't mean to hijack but is the TOW loading gate better than the upgrade one from VTI?

I don't have a clue.  It has a much deeper dish than the factory model.  It has the tab as well but the deep curved edge of the dish catches the cartridge rim.

Uberti changed to a deep dished ladle quite some time back, due to all the breakage.  I think the VTI heavy duty and the track of the wolf and the current Uberti all look about the same.  Whether one is heavier gauge I don't know.  The current Uberti ones are much better than their previous flatter ones, for the reason Tascosa Joe said, but can still fail.  I think more likely to fail with smaller calibers since less of the rim of the cartridge is supported by the front edge of the gate.

      Greetings, Coffinmaker!

Many moons ago, I waved a magnet over the living room shag carpet for over four hours.

My Uberti 1866 built in the last year has the newer deep dished out ladle.  The cartridge rim actually rests on the edge of ladle instead of fully on the tab on the back.  My prior 66 I had a couple years ago had the shallow ladle, and the tab broke off in the middle of a match, looking the gun up.  Got a TOTW one to replace the broken one.

:(  Oh Krap  :(

I may be mistaken, but the supplier for Reduced Main Springs for VTI recently passed away.  I think he was also the supplier for the After-Market deep dish ladles for the '66.  Since I am no longer in the business, and therefore not paying attention, I was unaware Uberti had also gone to the more historical and correct deep dish ladle.  Uberti has been known to "copy" the after-market.

I compared the OEM ladel  on my '66 150th Annv model to a TOTW replacement dish.  At least on this model 66 Uberti had not changed to the deeper ladel.  I purchased my '66 last March, but I guess it was manufactured in '15 or '16.
