A couple of years ago, at my last Shot Show with Cimarron, we were packing up after the show when one of the neighboring exhibitors was finished packing and were walking out, and one of their guys walked by me and handed me a paddle holster, an extra one of their demos I guess, and with limited English says I can have it.  I said thanks and stuck it in my bag.  It was a paddle holster from a company called Masc.  Turkish, I think.  Anyway, when I got home I'm looking at this thing and it is definitely molded for a revolver with an ejector, but what?  Nothing I owned would fit in it.  Possibly made for a small frame gun like the Stallion?  There doesn't seem to be space for the top strap of any SAA.  So I pull it out again recently and figured out that my 4 3/4" '51 Richards-Mason fits!  It is tight, and you have to really push it down into the holster in order to snap the retention strap.  But then when you unstrap it, the gun sort of pops up out of the holster a little bit making for a really quick and easy draw, which is kind of neat.  I haven't worn it yet, but one of these evenings I'll strap it on when I go out for a walk. ( Their website is www.mascholster.com ).  They do have some nice modern stuff.

Thanks for the link Abilene!

I do like the paddle holsters, if done properly they are quite convenient for outside the pants, and make adjustment around the waist a breeze.

I am still playing with fairbairns honduras shirt rig

Which I hope might be doable as a paddle rig

Very interesting looking holster, Prof.  I am not familiar with that one.

Nice little snubby, too!  :)

@Professor, I have seen holsters like that, and they make nervous. Not much seems to be holding the pistol in place.

Marshal Will Wingam

That's a cool paddle rig, Abeline. Thanks for the pic.

I like the positioning of that shirt rig Prof but my concern would be retention. It's almost like an inverted skeleton rig without the cylinder clip. Does it keep the pistol securely in place under differing conditions?

Abilene; I'll bet that paddle rig will take a Ruger Single-Six.

Oops sorry for any confusion gents,

first, it was col rex applegate, not fairbairn.
second the image is not mine but a limited commercial repro of the origianl applegate rig.
The image is  the "Applegate", built  by Karla Van Horne of Purdy Gear,
a recreation of the Detective Wonder Holster originally produced by SD Myres of El Paso,TX circa 1930.
here's an article
https://americanhandgunner.com/editors-picks/purdy-gear-rigs/

applegate actually used a breaktop, and according to the article was instrumental
in getting S&W to  bring out the 5 shot Chiefs... here is a photo of applegates rig

here is another brief advert:

I have seen two versions, both made by Purdy Gear one the upside down, which may be dicey for retention,
and a right-side up which looks like a high rise paddle rig

that one is what I am thinking of..... sort of  a paddle - armpit holster instead of a shoulder rig with straps.
