Professor Marvel

A Very Happy Yuletide to all

FYI RE YULETIDE

"Troll The Ancient Yuletide Carol "

- Back in days of yore, to troll meant ?to sing or utter in a full, rolling voice?

and regarding Yule
The "Yule Tide" is a 12-day Northern Germanic  midwinter festival based on the winter solstice.
By 900 AD it transmorgrified into "Christmastide".

The word yule develops from the geōl, with similar forms in such other Germanic
languages as Old Norse and Gothic. English speakers are most familiar with yule
through associations dating to its original use.

"See the blazing yule before us, Fa lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaaaaa "

The Yule Log was originally a real large log burnt on the hearth big enough to last the
whole festival, but now makes an appearance at Christmastime as a cake shaped like a log.

other Yule "stuff" Many present-day Christmas customs and traditions:
- The Yule goat carried Father Christmas on his back and is a symbol of Christmas
        throughout Scandinavian countries.
- hunting the Yule log to bring home for the hearth
- Yule boar  (live wild boar, you swear your new year resolution whilst placing your hand on his head)
- Yule carols, coming from these pre-Christian traditions and morphed into Wassailing and Carolling
