A bud in ECSASS showed me this revolver last month and the price was right, even though it isn?t a 1872 I bought it today. Merry Christmas to me. For a open top revolver that won?t get shot too often it will do. It?s a .45 naturally, is there another caliber? Tomorrow I?ll try it out. Hope it likes my .45 schofield loads. Photos then. This will be my second ubertl revolver, my other is a .45 Thunderer that I won at the NE Regional. Came in first place that year [at least in the raffle].

It is a Cimarron not a uberti, don?t know if that makes a difference. My 200 gr colt loads seem to hit a hair left -see the lower blue sass marshal while the same powder and bullet in schofield brass are center grouping on the circle above it. Found a couple of the pc bullets that im currently using, flattened them out nice. The schofield loads rap my knuckle a bit but the lc loads don?t. It?s got a smooth action and is easy to shoot. Can?t really aim it with the hammer notch rear sight as much as point it. Ive got some 180 gr bullets that I want to try in schofield brass next.

Heres how far my targets are. I shot 25 yds offhand from my deck.

That's Cimarrons Richard-Mason conversion, by Uberti.

Yepper there Biltmore.  You have a Richards/Mason 1860 Conversion.  Built by Uberti and imported by Cimarron.  Nice guns.  Real high probability your R/M suffers the dreaded Uberti Open Top Short Arbor malady and you will want to check on that.

Normally there is a lot of interference between the Arbor and the Bore in the barrel lug that prevents the Arbor from truly bottoming out.  You may ned to clean some rough spots and burrs away.

Nice guns though.  Your really going to enjoy yours.  They usually also run really well with C45S cases.  Real good luck with 180Gr bullets too.  Of course, I don't cotton to Big Heavy bullets.  I'm a recoil WIMP.  Have fun wid it.

Thanks for the clarification guys. Will uberti 1860 army grips work on this grip frame? Or can be made to fit? I can?t seem to find anything listed for Richards/Mason conversions. The bbl is on the long side but it will work ok in my crossdraw.

Not sure what you are asking, as the grips on the gun are already Uberti 1860 Army.   1860 Conversions and Cap'n'ball are same grips, though the percussion triggerguard is brass.

I didn?t know if there was a difference. Maybe what I want to ask is will uberti 1871-72 army grips or uberti 1873 saa grips fit the 1860? Looking for horn or faux ivory grips.

Nice pistol!   1872 Open top army grips will fit the Richards Mason with an Army grip, but 1873 SAA grips are much closer to the 1851 Navy grip.

Atz somewhat confusing there Biltmore   :o   Your 1860 Conversion already has 1860 Army pattern Grip Frames and Grips.  Are you saying you want to swap on SAA Pattern or 1851 Pattern Grip Frames and Grips??  Or, just find some after-market grips to fit yours??

Uberti grip sets are standardized although Brass Grip Sets bought as "parts" may require some fitting.

Baltimore Ed

No I don?t want to switch frames. I like the 1860 sized frame, very comfortable to me. I was trying to figure out if the conversion part of the 1860 Richards-Mason Conversion nomenclature made a difference as I wasn?t finding any grips listed to fit the R-M Conversion. As I said I?m looking for horn or faux ivory. I am seeing 1872 and 1860 grips listed. Has anyone tried the magna tusk grips or had something made from american holly which would look nice.

You want Uberti 1860 Army grips.  That should be easy to find.

I'm partial to the 1860 cartridge conversions.  Here is my Kirst Konverted Pietta 1860 in 45 Colt.  It is their "Saber River" hand engraved set.

I just picked up a faux ivory grip for it from "Get A Grip On It" an Ebay seller I have used before.  Nice off white or very light tan so it looks aged.  I have not put it on yet....
