Pards,
Just picked up a H&R trapdoor carbine in 45-70 this week and want to break it down to nuts and bolts to give it a good cleaning, inspection and oiling. The gun is in great shape and looks good but I feel the need to give it that good cleaning. What I'm looking for is a site or book that will help me get this job done right. (How to brake it down)
After it's cleaned I will be reloading for it. I'm looking for some light loads, shooting about 100 to 200 yards; – being a carbine it will more than likely give a pretty good kick with the 405 gr. bullets I use in my sharps, so I'm looking for a lighter load with maybe a 300gr bullet. Any help out there?

Pick up the book THE 45-70 SPRINGFIELD 4th Edition by North Cape Publications. It's jammed full of great info, history, and pics of the break down procedures. Realatively inexpensive.

Dirty Brass,
Thanks for the lead on the 45-70 Springfield book. I ordered it and just received it yesterday . Your right it's full of good information. Will get a chance to go through it more in detail this weekend.
   Again thanks
