Mini Shells in 1887 Norinco or IAC Lever Shotguns

I have heard that one of the reasons Chinese 1887's don't cycle well is they were originally designed around a 2 1/2 inch shell, the standard in 1887, and now they are 2 3/4".  Has anyone tried the Augila Mini Shells in theirs?
