Barrel markings?

Got a used SAA barrel,,,And noticed that the Colt address on the barrel is smaller print than all my other colt barrels,,Don't know how old the barrel is ,,but I know it was made after 1929 because it has the COLT  SINGLE  ACTION  ARMY  45  on the side.
So I was wondering,, did Colt ever use a different size print for the barrel address ?..Or did I buy a fake Colt barrel?

There were several different styles of barrel marking depending on year of manufacture.  For a post 1929 pistol the SN should be 352401 or higher.  Also a lot of 1st Gen Colts were re barreled post WWII with NOS Colt barrels or 2nd Gen barrels after 1955.

Not everything is a fake because 'you' haven't seen it before...

From your description, it sounds like a factory replacement barrel - a 'very' common thing when the .32-20 and .38-40 barrels ran out (along with the other calibers) and only .45 was left.

Guys rechambered, and happily went on their way with a larger caliber and easier to obtain ammunition.
