Received a 56/50 Infantry Rifle made by Armi/Chiappa and when I pulled it out to go over function today I noticed that the rifling was off.. a couple of the grooves are deep and the rest are very light.. I need to return it but was wondering if anyone out there has ever had a similar issue.. The gun is unfired and perfect condition.. just messed up rifling.. How does that stuff pass inspection at the manufacturer??

Cannonman1,

Just return it . . .  QC is not what it should be.  Just too bad you got a bad one.  Try again.  May I ask who was the dealer?

Elk County is facilitating a replacement.. We will see how this goes. Happy with their quick reply and taking total responsibility for satisfying me .. A good start.

Two Flints

Update
As of yesterday, I have heard back from both my distributor and Chiappa/Armi..  A repair order has been issued and I am returning the rifle for either replacement or repair. They indicate they are ahead of schedule and the normal 4-6 week time frame will be likely shortened by a couple weeks. They will evaluate the rifle and decide on what direction makes sense. ( I suspect repair ) which is preferred as the action is nice, fluid and tight, trigger pull is perfect and wood has a nice grain.
So, I give them an A so far.. Good communications up to this point and a battle plan.
By the way, took my .44/40 Chaippa carbine out yesterday.. It shot like a champ.. Fluid feeding and nary a hiccup. I was smoking a gong offhand at 120 yards with great regularity and the fun meter was at 10..

Cannonman,

Good to read . . . stay in touch regarding the rifle . . . I worry about getting a last minute runaround from the seller, but seems good so far.

Two Flints is correct.
Considering the cost of the new Spencer's, it is about time that the manufacture and the "sellers/dealers" make good on their finished product!
If there is a fault... it is with the lack of support Chiappa/Armisport offers to the customers.
I wish you well on this Cannonman1!
My best,

Well, so much for final inspection at the factory. Reminds me of a crate of new Harpers Ferry flint muskets delivered to a Texas post...without the vents having been drilled. Hard to proof a musket barrel w/o a vent hole.

Blair

And just which model "Harpers Ferry" flint lock Muskets would this be?
I also don't know how this information would relate to the subject of Spencer Repeating Firearms?

Final Report on Repair of Chiappa Spencer Rifle..
Rifle was received by Chiappa and after 4 calls and talking with the gunsmith and others, I received back today, a re barreled rifle with good rifling and they even replaced the somewhat loose barrel bands with nicely fitting ones ( I had not asked for that ) Gun has original reciever and stock and I am very satisfied with the result and aesthetics... Took some firm but calm discussion with Chiappa and got them to understand that I was not letting this go by the wayside on a 1500.00 rifle.
