My attempts at contacting Chuck's heirs have not produced any fruit. Unfortunately, the company that owns the original domain thinks it's worth $1200 and that's more than I wanted to pay. I am moving forward with wrtcleather.org and it will be strictly a memorial site for Chuck's work. I have already registered the domain and have given instructions to my web developer to get started. It won't restore the pictures to his forum posts but at least it's a start. I will keep an eye out on the .com and hope that I can secure it at a later date. It will look like the original site but I will also add gallery pages where customers and friends can submit pictures to be posted and I may put up some of his forum posts as articles. While the site is mostly intact on the wayback machine, I will need some help locating the pictures that are missing. I'll have a page with a list of file names that folks can use to look through the pictures they have so we can fill in the missing pieces.

I have also setup a new email account so if you have something you want to submit, send it here:

wrtcleather at hotmail.com

I don't know if I need to say this or not but this is strictly a not-for-profit endeavor.

This sounds like a fine idea. I look forward to seeing what you develop.

Great news, the domain owner has come back and accepted my offer to buy the original wrtcleather.com! I'll be able to restore the pics to all of Chuck's forum posts! :)

Great news! I love the look of chuck's work.

Many years ago I bought Chuck's video on Holster making. It is an excellent video and really helped me improve my work. Unfortunately I lent it to someone who disappeared.

The process to buy the domain is complete so I now own it. My web developer is working on the site as we speak. I'm thrilled that the pics will be restored to Chuck's posts.

I was also toying with the idea of taking some of his in-depth forum posts and putting them up as articles. Any ideas?

All that sounds like great ideas.  Chuck was such a wealth of knowledge and regardless of the fact he made a living doing the work, he was always willing to help newbie/amateurs.   I have seen people who make a living at something never offer an ounce of help, thankfully, Chuck was not that way.    I have not had time to go through my library of pictures to see what I have of Chuck's but will try and do that soon.

Congrats on getting the domain. It would be nice to add some of his forum posts to the site, either by copying them or linking to them.

I checked and it looks like I have a half a dozen his photos from the forum. When you're ready, I will send them to you. Let  me know where to email them.

Johnny, I bought that set from Chuck on DVD. You can borrow it if you need to. Just let me know.
Chuck was unique in his mastery of details and his willingness to so graciously share it. Miss being able to e-mail him with a question.

Howdy Bill,

Many thanks for your generous offer. While it would be fun to watch again, I probably won't need to view it anymore. My Bride and i recently moved to a Condo in Florida. I won't be doing much leather work anymore as workshop space is limited.

I must apologize to the forum. Our web developer went AWOL and took the site with him. We started the process of shopping for a new home and moving right after I got it back online last year and I neglected to get the host moved to one I had control over. I now have to start from scratch with another developer.

I'm looking forward to your new site. Chuck was outstanding and this is a great way to honor him.

I'm working on getting the site back up. It has a home page and I've started one gallery page. Trying to figure out how to get the pics he posted to populate. Now I know why I hired a web developer to do it before. ;)

Thanks for doing that Craig. It's like an online museum.
