Greetings the Brigade.  The Dept of the Platte muster is on for our 3rd consecutive year.  The muster will be held the first week-end of August (1st & 2nd) with set-up on Friday, July 31st.  We are a small gathering (due to the range layout it is difficult to run multiple squads), but our terrain is interesting and challenging.  As Drydock put it, our targets aren't hard to hit but they can be hard to find.  Our "signature" event is the team shoot (details in the attachment below), and we have three Victorian skirmishes, one expansion skirmish and long range rifle and precision pistol stages.  Local hotels and motels are open and , with luck, restaurants will be open for dine-in by August.  We are far in the boonies and Moffat County/Craig has had only seven covid cases to date.  We'd love to have you come and join us...

Retired in 8 days, looks promising, no commitments 7/31-8/2. If volunteers are invited back to VA before then, I can keep the time open.

Plan on being there, will not be able to help set up this year though.  Will not get to Craig until Friday evening. Got a room booked at Elk Run.

All right Sir!  Hope you can make in time for mex dinner as usual...

And now I have to cancel because my Wife's radiation therapy has been scheduled for that week.  Ah well.

Sir:
I must request leave not to attend as we are scheduled for my wife's annual recheck at the Mayo Clinic. Unfortunately, this is an annual thing. So far, she has had good checks for the past 10 years, but one never knows. Perhaps future musters could be scheduled two weeks earlier or a week later.
All-in-all, we are well. I just had my second cataract surgery yesterday, and that seems to be progressing well. Had the left eye done in March, so, hopefully I will be able to see the sights on my hardware much better.

Regards to you and yours! Stay well!

While I've always enjoyed it in the past, I also think there is very little chance of my making this muster.  Between the Covid thing and getting my house ready to sell I just don't see this one in the cards this year.

Steve - good luck on getting your house ready and sold.  We went through that last summer and it was several months of hard work and hard decisions.  Hopefully next year...
