Guns In The Hills is almost upon us. It will be held Friday, July 19th through Sunday, July 21st.  This is the eighth year of this event, and we hope to make it even more fun than last year.  Guns In The Hills has been described as a ?premier match not to be missed? by one of the previous year?s attendees, and we hope that you will come and see for yourself.  A listing of local hotels can be found on our website, wowsinc.org. Just click on the button for Guns In The Hills and the list is that page. Application are also found on that page.

We will feature free side matches on Friday the 19th at the main range.  It looks like we will not have long range shooting this year. Next year we plan to have a new long range setup, on the main range. On Saturday, the first six of ten stages will be shot, and Sunday the remaining stages will be shot.  Awards will follow the completion of all stages.

All NCOWS categories will be offered for this regional match. Full descriptions of these categories can be found on the NCOWS web site at www.ncows.org.

Friday night at the range will feature a ?cowboy picnic? supper and a chance to get to know other shooters.  A banquet will be held Saturday evening at the Stout Ale House in Menomonie.  This year we will be having a buffet supper instead of ordering individual meals. We hope this change will speed the banquet along.

Come and enjoy the shooting experience at the NCOWS Midwest Regional, Guns In The Hills!

Any questions can be directed to the match director Dan Topper at spanton@frontiernet.net, or 715-246-6218.

If you enjoyed the NCOWS Nationals in Evansville, you definitely like the NCOWS Midwest Regional's. Everything about this great event is first class especially the hospitality. Where can you see so many Shooters shooting black powder in an authentic Old West atmosphere? A bonus feature of the Midwest Regional's is the free camping available. It's a genuine pleasure to camp in such a beautiful setting. Please go to this link for a slide show of the 2018 NCOWS Midwest Regional's:

Got our entries in the mail. Besides Gabby Hayes and myself, I'm bringing 2 more grandsons to shoot. Soon we'll have our own posse!  I missed the Nationals this year, but I'm not going to miss the regional.

See you all in the beautiful Wisconsin North Woods!

Two-Bit Charlie

Ps we're going to miss you Johnny

Dan Topper

Thanks John for posting the slide show and sorry you won't be able to make it this year.

Looking to see you and the grandkids Charlie.

A special note to campers: We don't have running water this year! Due to changes, potable water is no longer available. We are working towards getting our own well, but that won't happen any time soon. We will have coolers  etc. with water in them but that is all.

Dropped registration in mail tonight. Won?t be there on Friday, so what time is registration on Saturday? Late because until last week, our monthly shoot was scheduled same weekend. What time is safety meeting.
Thanks
Brian

Mr. Topper, Johnson Barr and I have not yet added this event to our circuit.  One day we will get there.  I considered it this year, then realized it is the same time I am in Wyoming for the Lightning Pass Indian Fight re-enactment.  Maybe next year.  All I hear is great things about this match.

Dusty, the registration starts at 8am on Saturday morning. Mandatory safety meeting at 8:30. I hate mornings but any later and things don't go well.

Okla Tom I would love to see you there sometime. I realize that it is a long ways for you guys to go, to come to a shoot. I hope we continue to live up to everyones expectations.

Will you have a for sale table? I have an 38 S&W perfected for sale, at 6? bbl rare. I have no use for this gun. Anyone who wants it make an offer. Best guess my part , refinished. Make an offer: Brian

Dan Topper

We won't have a "for sale" table per se but there will be plenty of space to show off what you have.

Our web page has the weekend schedule listed on it, check under the Guns In The Hills link. There is also a note about road construction there. Some of the roads from Menomonie to the range are being worked on. Please look at the information we have posted. I am told the detours will get you to the range but be prepared for some road work.

I just got home, 7:39, from Guns in the Hills (Midwest Regionals). Another great shoot put on by the Wisconsin Old West Shootest. Did you know they are now the oldest Posse in NCOWS? Anyway, what a shoot they put on. Dan Topper must have really upset the weather gods. High heat and humidity Friday for the side matches, thought we were shooting with Johnny McCrea down in Florida. Then Saturday we shot six exciting  stages in the pouring rain. Sunday we finished our last four stages in beautiful sunshine. I camped there with my three grandsons. Everything was wet or damp. I won't even mention four broken guns. Good thing I brought enough with us. All kidding aside we had a great time. My three grandsons had a ball. The only REAL downside was two great pards that couldn't make it, Johnny McCrea and Bear Toothbilly. Johnny, of course moved to Florida and Bear Tooth had family obligations. He and his wife Pam did come up Friday and visited with us for a while. If you missed the shoot this, you have to put it on your calendar for next year. Topper has already ordered good weather from Amazon!

Thanks for a great time

It was fun to be surrounded by so many like minded friends. I thank each and everyone of you for coming and helping to make the shoot a success.

Sorry I couldn't shoot, but Pam has some serious health issues back. I called Topper
a month ago and told him the news that I won't be able to make it. Then a week ago
Pam woke me up at 2:00 am saying that she can't take that away from me, being it
is our favorite shoot of the year. So we drove up on Friday and got a hotel, and were
able to go to the range on Friday and Sat. morn. We met lots of friends with lots of
hugs and prayers. Thanks so much for your support during this difficult time.
