Dusty, just received and watched your video.  That is about the extent of my ejection also.  Brass will hit the receiver or flip past.  Thank you for the visual.  That really helped.  Do your originals function in the same manner with the cut Rem brass?  If yes, then that is that and I will accept it, as is, and go on enjoying it.

Just not like the video I posted but....

Thanks again for the visual example that really helps me to understand what others are experiencing.

BRS    I loaded some 45-60 cartridges made from cut-down Remington brass into an original 1876 2nd. model . The lever had to be opened smartly for the loaded or empty cases to fly upward higher than what you saw in the video . But the rifle will eject the loaded or empty cases cleanly for rapid fire . In my opinion there is no problem if the case gets out of the way and clears the action . Does your empty cases clear the action , or are they being left behind in the action ? ,,,DT

Is the On The Rage video the one your talking about above or a different one?

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Dusty,

Just saw your posting from yesterday.  Computer problems.

The answer is as you stated.  If the action is worked smartly or rapidly the cases are pushed out by the lifter and therefore out of the mortise cavity.  But the casing 'only' goes back far enough to hit the dust cover or just past the hammer.  Never very high into the air to create an arc effect.  Levering from the shoulder, like I always do, the empties hit me in the face or forehead.

Where would an old soldier purchase an 1876 at a fair price?
